Stepping outside this morning I was hit by the smells of winter in the air. Woodsmoke, cold clear air, and the smell of the snow itself, all combined to make it clear that winter is on the way. Autumn is a time for anticipation of the coming winter, and it feels like it is going to be a good one.
I'll sign off with a couple of photos taken whilst working this afternoon, just to show how the snow looked then.
Ah, the smell of winter. Once living in an area of the world that received snow during the winter, I can say it's one of life's little pleasures. Alas, here I find myself in Australia, with upside down seasons, and a winter that brings nothing but cooler temperatures and no precipitation to really speak of. Most of the storms we get are during the humid summer months which are, in of themselves, fun. But it's no snowstorm.

Thanks for the comment Stefan. You know there are some snowy places in Australia - have a look at the Nutcracker Ski Club page in the ski links on the right for example.
